Be Your Best Self

March 2022

Greetings Story Lovers!

We hope you've had a wonderful week! Thank you for all of the kind words in response to last week's message. Hearts are certainly heavy as we witness the unfolding invasion of Ukraine. Having studied World War II in depth over the last two years it seems history is repeating itself - and while we hope this is not true, the similarities are certainly evident.

What is also familiar are the stories of bravery, people rising up to the darkness and seeking to do good. It's inspiring to see so many reach out in support of Ukraine, but also to see those choosing to be their best selves.

“For the world is in a bad state, but everything will become still worse unless each of us does his best.”

Viktor E. Frankl, Man's Search for Meaning

If you haven't read it, we highly recommend Man's Search for Meaning by Viktor Frankl. The book was written in 1946 and chronicles his experience in a Nazi concentration camp during World War II. This, we think, is one of the important books that should be on everyone's book lists. It is a wonderful example of man's ability to triumph over evil and to find meaning in the darkest of circumstances.
