It’s 1910, the height of the Progressive Era, and 20-year-old Orchid Mae Entwistle is quickly becoming the next Nellie Bly amongst American journalists. As a muckraker reporter, there’s one thing she really cares about, telling the truth.
When a mysterious letter comes from her archeologist aunt, making Orchid a career-promoting offer of a lifetime, she’s ready to jump at the chance. There’s just one catch; it may require her to compromise her journalistic integrity and stretch the truth a little.
Sam “The Hunter” Hunt has made himself a household name as a top prizefighting boxer in Chicago. But with the mob running the city, things have gotten complicated, and Sam wants out. A gifted artist when he’s not in the ring, Sam receives an offer to work as an onsite illustrator for a Dr. Amelia Entwistle, who is presently working on a dig in the Amazon jungle. The job is Sam’s on one condition; on his way to Brazil, he must act as bodyguard to Dr. Entwistle’s 20-year-old niece.
Sure. No problem. How hard could it be? Sam thinks. Until he meets Orchid Mae. From first sight, it’s clear he’s about to embark on the adventure of a lifetime.
With family secrets, ancient legends, mysterious disappearances, and corruption of the worst kind afoot, Orchid Mae and Sam venture into the heart of the Amazon to uncover the truth. What they learn instead is that the truth is more complicated than they imagined.

I received this as a gift from my daughter, Julie. It was a surprise and I hadn't seen anything about Flower Letters so had no idea what it was when I received it. I'm just loving the idea of it and the story. I anxiously await the letters and it reminds me of when I was younger and mailed letters to friends, and family and waited for their responses. Certainly different from how things are now. I'm only on letter 4 but the story is wonderful and I can't wait to see what happens next. Before I got them my daughter simply asked my if I could do an adventure would it be a western or an archeology trip and I picked archeology. It was the perfect choice even though I did not know what I was picking.

I anxiously waited for letter #3 as we were out of town. I patiently waited. Then it arrived. But I was tired. I rested before opening the letter up. I love when you don't know what's inside. I have shared with my book club. In fact will do so tomorrow morning as well as a book! A new member suggested last month to remind them who the main characters are and what has happened so far.
I love the archaeology behind it real and make believe. The mystery so far.
I love the journalism aspect; the yellow journalism in the story line as well as what really happened and how it ties in. Very clever; lots of research!! I love to write as well. Maybe I will get a story published. We will see.
I love the romance part between Orchid & Sam. In time it is apparent that the Aunt and Colonel make it official.
And, of course all the minor characters play their part: Jack's best friend, Orchid's former boss and the new boss.
So can't wait for letter #4!!!!

I plan on making a journal for it and using the letters and extras as ephemera.

The contents are pretty. I find the writing somewhat childish so I won’t be renewing.

Love what you’re doing but I was forced to cancel my account due to an over burdened budget. Thank you!

I got the letters as a gift for my mother and this is her review.
“I appreciate the variety of topics they cover. I had not heard about some of them and I like the availability of more information. The story line is a bit predictable but I still look forward to each letter.”

I look forward to the beautiful envelope in my mailbox. I take a cup of tea to my favorite chair on the porch and open my envelope to enter a different world. The added pictures and memorabilia add to the experience.

I finished Audrey Rose and it was ok. I’m reading Lily Clara now and I love it so far. I gave Norah Aven to my daughter but I haven’t read it yet. I have Adelaide waiting to be read and I’m loving Orchid Mae. I love the art work and to be able to find out more historical facts on your on line website. You guys are great!
