Jawbreakers: Soldiers during WWII referred to Army Biscuits as “Jawbreakers” because they were legendary for being hard and inedible.

General Eisenhower: General Dwight D. Eisenhower was a famous general of WWII that would go on to become the 34th President of the United States. He is well known for his role as the Supreme Commander of Allied Expeditionary Force responsible for storming the coast of Normandy on D-Day.

Propaganda: Information, especially of a biased or misleading nature, used to promote or publicize a particular political cause or point of view.

The Trail of Tears: Between 1830-1840 the United States government relocated nearly 125,000 Native Americans from lands their ancestors had occupied for generations in order to expand southern cotton agricultural efforts. Most Natives were forced from their lands, some at bayonet point, and marched over 5,000 miles and across nine states to new “Indian territory.” Because they were forced from their land without time to properly prepare for the journey or government aide, and often in the middle of winter, thousands of Native Americans died before reaching the new territory. A Choctaw leader told one Alabama Newspaper that it was “A trail of tears and death” which ultimately coined the name.
